Traditional limb risers solve one problem while creating several others. They can help guide branches away from the windshield, but they often introduce wind noise, cable vibration, paint contact, and bulky mounting hardware. We wanted a cleaner solution that could do more than simply tension a wire across the vehicle. Along trail routes with hood corners that regularly encounter brush and trail debris, standard accessories aren't enough. We wanted something stronger than a wire bracket, cleaner than a bulky light mount, and useful enough to leave on the truck every day. This design philosophy ultimately shaped the product you see today.

When Ford designed the Bronco, they included factory Trail Sights on the front fenders. These indicators are great for tracking tire placement, judging vehicle width over tight obstacles, or working as simple tie-down points. They are functional, easy to see from the cabin, and sit exactly where the vehicle meets trail obstacles. This makes them one of the most useful factory design details on the Bronco out of the box.

Looking closely at this mounting area, we realized there was an opportunity for better trail protection. The factory anchor points offered a solid mechanical foundation to mount an exterior upgrade without modifying the sheet metal or sacrificing the truck's heritage.

The short answer is yes. Traditional Ford Bronco limb risers are highly effective at their intended purpose. By creating a tensioned cable path between the hood and roof, they help guide branches upward and away from the windshield, roof rack, and other exposed accessories. For drivers who frequently travel through forest roads, overgrown trails, and remote overland routes, limb risers remain one of the simplest ways to reduce direct contact with vegetation.

However, most traditional systems focus almost entirely on the cable itself. The front mounting bracket—the component responsible for carrying the load of the entire system—often receives far less attention. This is where we believed the design could be improved.

One of our design rules from day one was simple: don't block the Trail Sights. Many premium upgrades blindly chase an oversized look, completely cutting off these indicators from the driver’s line of sight. For us, keeping that factory functionality was a priority for real-world route navigation.

As seen in our trail testing , our base replaces the factory plastic loop with a steel structure that flows with the hood lines. We even embossed "1966" into the side—a quiet nod to the birth year of the first-generation Bronco. We engineered the upper profile to match the height of the original sight, which helps maintain the factory reference point for judging vehicle width while upgrading the area to a rigid steel platform.

A traditional limb riser system can clear branches, but it comes with compromises. When tensioned between the hood and roof, cables can vibrate at highway speeds and generate additional noise. If they loosen over time, they may contact painted surfaces during rough trail use. Rather than relying on a small stamped bracket as the primary anchor point, we wanted a stronger foundation.

We wanted a rigid framework that rethinks how the front anchor point works. By extending the base platform into a 374mm swept steel mount, we spread the load evenly across the fender line. As shown in image, the riser cable exits cleanly from the rear of the structure, helping create a more stable anchoring solution than traditional thin-gauge mounting brackets.

On tight trails, the front corner of the hood is typically the first point of contact with brush and low-hanging branches. Traditional limb risers tend to focus on protecting the windshield, leaving this lower impact zone exposed.

Our steel shell creates a protective outer layer over this vulnerable section. Acting as a practical sacrificial barrier, it helps intercept low branches before they reach painted surfaces and guides them toward the riser cable path. This helps reduce direct contact with hood edges, windshield glass, and surrounding exterior panels during trail use.

A traditional limb riser and a branch deflector ultimately pursue the same goal: helping move vegetation away from vulnerable vehicle surfaces. The difference lies in how they manage contact and load distribution. Traditional systems rely primarily on a tensioned cable. A rigid branch deflector introduces a physical protective structure around one of the vehicle's most exposed impact zones—the hood corner and fender edge. Rather than replacing the limb riser concept, the rigid structure complements it by reinforcing the front anchor point while adding an additional layer of protection where branches often make first contact.

While protection was our primary goal, utility remained equally important. The front fender corner offers a clear view along the side of the vehicle without obstructing the driver's forward visibility, making it an ideal location for trail-focused accessories.

As shown in image_14f147.png, the integrated structure provides a practical mounting location for off-road gear. Instead of relying on temporary suction-cup mounts, users can secure an action camera directly to the rigid steel platform, providing a more secure and stable mounting platform for action cameras on rough terrain. The platform can also accommodate compatible mechanical fender mirror setups, helping drivers monitor front tire placement and blind spots during technical off-road driving.

Installation requires no drilling, cutting, or permanent modification to the vehicle. The system aligns directly with factory mounting locations and installs using a straightforward bolt-on process with common hand tools. It adds a bit more capability without making the Bronco look overbuilt or cluttered. Instead, it feels like a component that could have belonged on the vehicle from the factory.
