Why We Designed a No-Drill Mirror Cover for Jeep Wrangler JL and Gladiator
Designer's Note: We didn't set out to build another action camera mount. Our goal was simpler: to create a protective "sacrificial shell" for vulnerable factory plastics, while seamlessly integrating a rattle-free shooting platform for overland content creators—without drilling a single hole.

1. The Problem: Vulnerable Factory Plastics and Shaky Camera Mounts
One of the most frustrating things about filming trail runs is finding a camera mount that actually stays put. After replacing a scratched mirror housing and losing a suction mount on the same trip—spending half an hour looking for a GoPro in the trail dust—we figured there had to be a better solution.
Suction cups eventually fall off once they get baked by the sun or covered in trail grit. On the other hand, most aftermarket A-pillar brackets clutter the vehicle's clean lines, looking like awkward fixtures during daily commutes and creating extra driving blind spots. Most importantly, if you drive a clean Wrangler JL, 4xe, Rubicon, or Gladiator, the last thing you want to do is drill into your vehicle or use messy adhesives.

2. Our Approach: Protection First, Camera Platform Second
We weren't trying to build a camera mount first. We were trying to build a better mirror cover.
The Jeep Wrangler JL and Gladiator are defined by sharp, rugged, and mechanical lines, but the factory plastic side mirrors always felt a bit soft and out of place. Instead of using cheap adhesive plastic covers, we utilized premium CNC-machined aluminum alloy to craft a geometric metal frame. The clean geometric lines and matte black finish give the plain factory plastic a subtle, high-end visual upgrade. More importantly, it creates a protective outer shell that takes the brunt of snapping branches on tight trails, acting as a sacrificial outer layer to help protect the factory mirror housing.

3. Real-World Functionality Without the Bulk
Once we nailed the styling and protection, we focused on capturing the journey.
For anyone who likes filming their trips, the integrated top rail turned out to be one of our favorite features. Most camera setups require extra bulky brackets, messy adhesive mounts, or drilling into the vehicle. We wanted something that looked like it belonged on the vehicle from day one, requiring zero drilling or permanent modifications.

When you hit the dirt, you can lock your camera straight onto the platform. Because it firmly ties into the mirror structure, it offers much more stable footage on rough trails compared to typical suction-cup mounts. The location also gives a surprisingly good view down the side of the vehicle without cluttering up the windshield area. More importantly, our precision-fit design perfectly preserves the factory side turn signals, keeping your highway driving safe and compliant.

5. Built For the Trail
At the end of the day, we built these mirror covers because we wanted them on our own Jeeps. Something that adds a bit more protection on tight trails, keeps the factory functionality intact, and gives us a clean place to mount a camera when we want to capture the trip. If you're the kind of person who spends weekends exploring back roads, forest trails, and remote campsites, we think you'll appreciate them as much as we do.

❓ FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Will these mirror covers fit a Jeep Wrangler 4xe?
Yes. These mirror covers are designed for Jeep Wrangler JL/JLU models, including 4xe, Rubicon, and Sahara trims, as well as Jeep Gladiator JT models. They leave exact clearances for daily operations.
Can I mount a GoPro on the mirror cover?
Yes. The integrated top rail provides a solid mounting point for GoPro, DJI Action, and other compatible action cameras, offering a far more stable platform on rough trails compared to standard suction cups.
Do I need to drill into my Jeep to install this?
No drilling or permanent modification is required. The system uses a bolt-on design that utilizes factory mounting locations for a clean, secure fit.
